Ducting is used for the gravity discharge of materials from silos and hoppers, often directing it into process or packing machines, road tankers, open trucks or bulk bags. It is also used for large volume air, gas or fume movements associated with Dust Extraction, Air Filtration, Ventilation and Fume Extraction. For the latter application, given the propensity for air and dust mixtures to be explosive, specialist knowledge, awareness and compliance with COSHH, LEV and DSEAR/ATEX are essential. Thin-walled rigid tubing and flexible tubing are also used in the construction of positive and negative pressure pneumatic conveying systems. Correct selection according to line pressure and abrasiveness of the materials conveyed is critical.
